Storm Buddies Book and Toy Set

Superheroes Soothe Stormy Weather Fears in Melissa Pope’s Children’s Book & Plush Toys Set

Inspired by her son, Melissa Pope’s children’s book, Storm Buddies, is a fictional tale about a little boy named Tommy who is terrified of stormy weather. Tommy overcomes this fear with the help of three small animals, called the Storm Buddies, who live in a cloud pillow under Tommy’s bed. The Storm Buddies have superpowers that help calm Tommy during scary thunderstorms, ultimately comforting him to sleep.

“My eight year old watched the news, weather channel and the sky at all times,” Pope says. “It disrupted his daily schedule, sports and all activities after school because he was so focused on what might happen with the weather. I wish he would have had the Storm Buddies in his young life.”

Pope hopes her book will be a great relief to young children who may have experienced the frightening effects of hurricanes, violent storms or tornadoes.

Storm buddies wold be the perfect gift for a child with anxiety. The plush toys are high quality and the zip up cloud they come in is super soft. It’s a wonderful comfort item to take to bed in times of stormy weather. All of my children loved the three animals and took turns playing with Pope’s plush characters. We highly recommend the full set of book with the toys, as even our older children enjoyed each animal and the theme and message of the story.

The world knows it as a cartoon with dancing teacups and broomsticks. To twelve year old Claire La Fleur, it is family history, and the power behind Belle’s mirror is real. Every ten years her family gathers to see if the mirror will awaken, and for the last two hundred years it has slept.

This time, Claire’s touch awakens the magic within the diamond looking glass, a direct portal to the past and a way to communicate with Cleopatra, the last pharaoh of Egypt. The lure of power brings with it many perils, and a betrayal close to home thrusts Claire into a treacherous underworld. To protect the mirror, she travels into the Louvre museum in the dark of night, searches abandoned subway tunnels, and walks the catacombs of the dead.

Review

We used Tuttle Twins book 3 as part of our home school lesson about banking, inflation and the rise of prices. My 7 year old especially appreciated the purple creature from Jekyll Island illustrated in bright colors. The older children were amazed to learn that the ridges on coins are used to prevent others from taking shavings off the side and using the metal to make more money. Our family took turns reading aloud which was the one suggestion we might make, it was a but long to digest in one read. Overall, I am pleased with the principles of liberty they absorbed and their understanding of how big government and too much lawmaking can interfere with future generations. We are fans of the Tuttle Twins series and recommend them as helpful tools for all ages.
