Book Description: Tommy was born blind and deaf, and left to be disposed of in an animal shelter drop box. This true story, told from the perspective of the dog and the rescuer is filled with unexpected hope and joy. In this charming children’s book with its magnificent illustrations, Tommy teaches us all how to embrace life and not its restrictions; to savor its possibilities. Ultimately, Tommy refuses to be defined by what he cannot do and reminds us that all of us were created with purpose and worth.
Mary’s Review: Tommy is a specially bred Doberman. He was bred for his beautiful white coat, but these beautiful dogs can often be born with difficulties as well. Tommy was born deaf and blind, but with spirit. He did not let his blindness and deafness get in the way of doing or getting whatever he wanted. Tommy’s story is one that makes us so grateful for what we have and truly sets the example of faith, hope and love and a sense of worth in us all.
I recommend this book for all ages.
