Mary’s Review:  Henry Burp is a little boy who thinks his bad manners are separate, individual and act independently on their own.  He feels no responsibility for their actions until the janitor at school points out this is not the case and helps teach  him how he can accept responsibility for his bad manners.  Read what Henry learns and if he’s successful. Fun book with cute water color illustrations also done by Mike Winn.

I recommend this book for ages 3-7.

Mary’s Review:  This is a lovely Kindle edition of The Ugly Duckling with beautiful color illustrations.  The ugly duckling mistakenly born into the wrong family endures the persecution of everyone including his own brothers and sisters due to his ugly appearance.  He continues to look for a place and someone who will accept and love him for who he is and not for his looks.  This book helps to teach us well that a book should not be judged by it’s cover and beauty comes from within. 

I recommend this ebook not only for children 4-8 but to all ages.  There is a lot we could all learn from this story.

About the Author: Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was born in Odense, Denmark to a poor family. He left home as a 14-year-old to seek his fortune at the theatre in Copenhagen. Andersen began writing plays and poetry before he left for Copenhagen, but it was not until 1835 that he published the first of the fairytales that would bring him international renown. Since then, his over 200 fairytales have enjoyed undiminished popularity, providing the basis for favorite American interpretations such as Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
