Book Summary from Harper CollinsCA :
You hold in your hands a very dangerous record.
I have collected every side of the story and every piece of evidence on case number 13. Now, in this file, you will find all you need to follow the dark adventures of Nick, Carter, and Angelo, three boys who possess an unhealthy obsession with monsters, in a town so grisly, so horrific—
Whoa, whoa, whoa. You’re telling it all wrong, dude. You make it sound like it’s a scary story.
Ahem. Well, Nick, it is a scary story. In this volume alone, there are voodoo queens, graveyards—even the dreaded Zombie King himself.
Yeah, but there’s also the part where Angie gets mashed potatoes all in her face, and the part where I use my cool zombie powers to—
All right, point taken. Now, if you don’t mind . . .
You hold in your hands a very dangerous, very funny record, detailing the hilarious adventures of three boys who have an awesome obsession with monsters. This is the first volume. Read on if you dare. . . .
Heather’s Review: I will be the first to admit that zombie stories are usually not my cup of tea but I love J. Scott Savage as a person and an author. So when his ARC came on tour in the mail, I picked it up curious…and began to read…and read…and read. Could not put the book down! The thing caught me completely off guard with its hilarious laugh out loud moments and brilliantly crafted characters– the “three monsterteers.”
It’s close to Halloween and the three of them have the best costumes ever cooked up. However, Nick’s Aunt Lenore has just died and he’s off to Louisiana for the funeral leaving all plans of trick or treating behind. But there are secrets and creepiness awaiting down in the bayou. Voodoo secret supplies, a mysterious black cat, a hidden family crypt and crocodiles, oh my!
This is absolutely a book you do not want to miss. Carve out an entire day to devour it and then hide it from your children, because if they are anything like mine they’ll want to steal it. I was blown away by the clever writing and fun paranormal history elements. Buy now!!!! Thanks to J. Scott Savage for sharing his genius with us.
About the author: J. Scott Savage has been hunting and writing about monsters for as long as he can remember. His mother believes his first word might have been “lycanthrope,” and the first thing he bought with the money he earned delivering newspapers was a six-foot plastic Frankenstein monster. Currently he lives with his undead wife, Jennifer, his shape-changing sons, Jacob and Nicholas, and a collie named Pepper that howls at full moons and joins him on his frequent midnight graveyard excursions. When he is not researching grisly and gruesome facts, he enjoys reading, writing, and exploring the outdoors. Savage is also the author of the middle-grade fantasy series Farworld.
