Book Description: A tortoise and a hare took a walk in a park and found a very odd animal indeed. With the bill of a duck and the gills of a fish, what ever could this strange creature be?
Mary’s Review: A tortoise and a hare while walking one day come across a Duckfish, a creature that is strange to them – something they had never seen before. They argued about what it was, asked the Duckfish what kind of creature it was and when it didn’t answer, decided it was rude and they became judgmental and walked away leaving Duckfish alone and not caring.
I think here, we should not be judgemental of others or what we don’t understand. We should be understanding and accepting of others and their differences.
The illustrations are not as interesting as they could be and my grandchildren really didn’t appreciate the value of the moral.
I recommend this book for older children ages 7-10.
