Overview: Max was interested in helping children understand their value – not from the world’s perspective, but from God’s. Wemmicksville is a land created by Eli, the “God” figure of the story. He creates each Wemmick in Wemmicksville uniquely, each with its own look and personality. Each story and video is a new adventure with the citizens of Wemmicksville. Punchinello is the central character, along with his friends Lucia, Splint, and Chip. When Punchinello strays from Eli, he begins to have problems. Only when Punchinello stays close to Eli does he clearly see how to walk through his life in Wemmicksville.
In this heartwarming tale, Eli helps Punchinello understand how special he is-no matter what other Wemmicks may think. Children will learn a vital lesson-regardless of how the world sees them, God loves each of them just as they are.
Hones’ Review: This is a timeless tale that reminds us of our own self-worth.  Every child, teen, and adult needs to be reminded that it is not how others perceive us that matters but how we perceive ourselves.  In these times, where bullying is ever present, this is a great book to read to your children to strengthen their self-worth.  I like the idea of reading it with my children before the start of each school year to remind them that no matter what anyone might say about them, they know in their hearts that they are special.
About the Author: Max Lucado loves words – written, spoken – it does not matter. He loves to craft sentences that are memorable, inspiring and hopefully life-changing. In almost 25 years of writing, more than 100 million products—80 million books—filled with his words have been sold.  Find more about author, Max Lucado, at http://www.maxlucado.com/.

Book Overview from Amazon:  This is the story of a young boy whose manners always get him in trouble. When he gets some, Henry learns to mind his manners – and they don’t mind at all.

Mary’s Review:  Henry Burp is a little boy who thinks his bad manners are separate, individual and act independently on their own.  He feels no responsibility for their actions until the janitor at school points out this is not the case and helps teach  him how he can accept responsibility for his bad manners.  Read what Henry learns and if he’s successful. Fun book with cute water color illustrations also done by Mike Winn.

I recommend this book for ages 3-7.

About The Author:  Mike Winn is an artist, actor and  art teacher in Chicago.  He is an advocate for arts education.  Mike always minds his manners. This book was originally published by BigDifBooks.com.

Overview: The Little Robot is curious to see what goes on at the zoo after it closes. He is surprised to learn that the zoo animals are all robots just like him.
A sweet story of curiosity and and self discovery. Perfect for bedtime reading. Humorous and interesting, this book is delightfully told and beautifully illustrated.

Mary’s Review: What a delightful and imaginative story written in poetry form about a little boy’s visit to the zoo where all the animals are robots.  Each shows that each animal has it’s  own special diet, that they are loved and cared for, love back, have their own sense of humor and personality.  The book takes the children on a wonderful adventure allowing them to use their imaginations in picturing a zoo full of robot animals.  What a small surprise to find out the little boy is a robot as well.

The illustrations are just as imaginative, adorable and colorful.

I feel this book teaches children that even though we are all unique in our own way we can live still together as one in peace and harmony.

I recommend this book for ages 4-8.
